Controlling device

The controlling device (assortment) consists of the escapement which itself consists of the escape wheel and the pallet fork (mobile d’échappement, ancre) and of the controlling device with balance and mainspring. The escapement makes possible the uniform distribution of the energy coming from the main springs (barillet) to the balance. Balance and mainspring together produce the oscillations regulating the gear train of the mechanical clock.
